Welcome to Summit Online!

Summit is a non-profit corporation devoted to helping Milwaukee’s inner city children grow in excellence despite limitations of difficult educational, social, or familial circumstances.

Our particular focus is to help at-risk kids connect with caring adults who can motivate them to develop and foster their goals, strengthen their characters, deepen their values, and complete their education. Summit’s programs are offered to boys and girls regardless of race, creed, or national origin. They are inspired by the social teachings of the Catholic Church.

So Anyway, What Is So SPECIAL About Summit?

dsc_0004.jpg“Of the dozens of after-school programs, why is Summit so special?” Very simply, here are the ingredients that set us apart:

Structured approach - We do not match a volunteer with a student and then send them out to sink or swim. From the the tutor training and support, to the weekly tutoring schedule, character development talks and goal setting exercises, meetings with the parents, and the sports and fun outings, we support tutors so they can help their student improve most effectively and foster a vision so they set out on a track to go to college at an early age.

Parents - We work with parents. Because parents are the primary educators of the family, gains made at Summit will only be short term if the parents, themselves, do not place a high value on education and character. In order that parents have a better understanding of how to help their child, we make monthly presentations and their child’s tutor meets with them to brainstorm about helping their child.

"We have supported Summit for the past eight years. We are so proud to see the fine work of dedicated mentors offered to students in our community. Our congradulations go to the entire staff and volunteers of this fine organization. The best part is the progress we see through grade school, high school and on to college. We give Summit our best wishes for the future."
